Wanted, GMs for UK Conventions, Rewards paid in Beer...

A short while back, I mentioned that I don't support conventions that don't look after their volunteers, some offer huge rewards, some offer small rewards, and some...

Some get inventive...

Just when I thought I'd seen all the rewards that people were likely to be offering, someone points out Continuum.  They don't offer free entry to the convention, but they do offer you a drinks token (and that's any drink) from the bar in return for a game that you run, and not only that, they offer you a drink for every game that you run...

So where's the catch...?

There isn't one...

Continuum is a convention that runs once every two years on the 12th to the 15th of August at Leicester University John Foster Hall, Leicester.  They do not focus on one game type in particular, understanding that many of us are interested in more than one type of games, and they have a strong presence across a variety of disciplines.

This year, as they do every time, they're offering several Freeform RPGs.  For those not familiar with Freeforms, they're roleplaying games that are heavy on the costume and theatricality, heavy on the numbers (it's not uncommon for Freeforms to have several GM's and dozens of players), but lighter on the rules, letting the focus be on the action, not on the mechanics.

There's a board game library for those interested, and a good number of traditional RPG's ranging from short and sweet to the more heavily involved scenarios and there's a good number of GM's already going who are at the top of the their game.  There's also a set of seminars, a bring and buy, and a reasonable sized trade hall.

I've never been to Continuum, it's always fallen around the wrong time of year for me, Gencon one year, extended birthdays the next, but this time, I've got the time, and so I'm going.  I've had nothing but good recommendations for this con, it's very friendly, but it's not a commercial con, with the focus very much on the games, and talking to Keary (the RPG Czar there) earlier today, he mentioned that they're always looking for more games to be run there.

So I'm also running a game of Symbaroum on the Friday Afternoon, full details on the website shortly, I'm also taking down a bunch of board games, because why would you not...?

Anyone else wanting to volunteer a game, please get in touch with Keary@ContinuumConvention.co.uk with the details of what you want to run and which slot you want to run it in.
